Our Story

Four years ago, we set out to solve the problem of European defense. After years of budget cuts, military personnel needs to train and work with inadequate and insufficient equipment. There is an opportunity to change that, and we answered that call.

Our Journey

The road so far

Intelic was originally founded as Avalor AI in September 2021, based on a shared conviction to protect our society. Only 5 months later Russia invaded Ukraine, radically proving the urgency. Our journey is marked by lessons learned about the brutal realities of warfare and the challenging task of not only innovating for Defence, but making the leap towards scalable deployment.

Sep 2021

Start of Avalor AI

Maurits and Jeroen met each other during their prototyping work in the newly formed Robotics and Autonomous Systems unit of the Dutch military. With a shared desire to make real operational impact and fulfilling the promise of robotics, they choose to found a company in a small 17m2 office. With a stroke of luck, Marc joined as third co-founder with his expertise on simulation.

Careful growth

With increasing traction on our proof of concepts and with expanding ambitions, we moved to a second 120m2 office.

Nov 2023

Towards operational experimentation

Secured our first contracts for testing our software during operational exercises, marking the start of the next phase of product maturity.

Jan 2024

Winning challenge in our first hackathon in Ukraine

In our first hackathon in Kyiv, Ukraine, we demonstrated the value of our proposition by winning the swarming challenge. This provided the groundwork for our local network, and strengthened our commitment to deliver real impact, fast.

Mar 2024

First trade mission to Ukraine with Minister of Defence Ollongren

Due to our quick progress, we were invited to join a small delegation to represent the Dutch defense industry during the first trade Dutch trade mission to Ukraine. Signing our first partnerships there with Ukrainian industry set the pace for our continuing commitment.

June 2024

€2M Seed investment from Keen

Backed by Keen Venture Partners, we secured key funding to accelerate product development and partner with companies all over Europe. To support this rapid growth, we moved to a new headquarters of 360m2.

Nov 2024

Awarded first operational contract

Our first operational contract for deployment of our software in Ukraine marked a transition from experimentation to real-world use.

Jan - June 2025

Acceleration towards deployment

Months of continuous and relentless testing with end users lead to a product ready for deployment. Highlights are participation in Dutch live fire exercise in the Caribbean, participation in the international exercise AEWE in the US, and countless field tests in close cooperation with the Ukrainian military.

July 2025

Launch of new name and branding

With a stronger identity and renewed vision, we rebranded as Intelic. The name Intelic stands for Purposeful Intelligence, and reflects our commitment to delivering mission-focused autonomy for robotics.
